Eyes have rich symbolism in multiple cultures. The concept of the evil eye is widespread, as is the use of eye symbols to protect against it. Many-eyed beings are also part of Jewish tradition, e.g. in Ezekiel's vision:

וְכׇל־בְּשָׂרָם֙ וְגַבֵּהֶ֔ם וִידֵיהֶ֖ם וְכַנְפֵיהֶ֑ם וְהָאוֹפַנִּ֗ים מְלֵאִ֤ים עֵינַ֙יִם֙ סָבִ֔יב לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֖ם אוֹפַנֵּיהֶֽם׃
And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.
